The Johnnie Walker King George V was created to honor the monarch who was granted their first Royal Warrant in 1934. This features some of the most valuable casks in their collection, including irreplaceable casks from the now-defunct Port Ellen distillery. It has a wonderful depth of character and an elegant reserve, much like its namesake. Right on the nose Port Ellen's sweet, smoky aromas greet you. It's followed by citrus, raisins, figs, and cinnamon notes. Spice and dried fruits abound on the tongue in Speyside and Highland whiskies, which are perfectly balanced with vanilla. Layers of sweet fruits, dark chocolate, toffee, and roast nuts emerge. Port Ellen has a coastal smokiness that builds throughout the long finish.
